Sunday 29th January
Thank you for this new day, for all the possibilities it holds, for all the chances to make a difference to someone else. Thank you for your grace which is endless and greater than anything we can ever imagine.
Today Lord I want to pray for families but especially brothers and sisters. Lord thank you for brothers and sisters, thank you for the love that can be shared, even if we live far apart from each other the love is always there. Thank you for the bonds that hold us and the care and concern that we have for each other.
Lord I pray for all those brothers and sisters who don’t have close relationships, who may be in conflict, caused hurt, or who may not even be in contact. Father things don’t always turn out the way we hope they will or the way we expect them to and I ask that you bring healing to those broken relationships, that You will mend broken hearts, enable there to be forgiveness and reconciliation so that families can be whole again. For those whose relationships may be beyond repair we ask for peace even if there is no more communication.
Lord You were part of a family, had brothers and sisters of your own, You knew the reality of everyday life, having to share and put others first. You are like a Brother to us, You stick even closer than that. Bless family ties, bless all those who care for their siblings young and old, bless all those who share the care of their parents. Help brothers and sisters realise the worth and value of love and of the importance of family.
Finally Lord for all those who’ve never had a brother or sister, help them not feel lonely and bring them friends who are just as close. Lord in your mercy hear our prayer
I Peter 3:8
Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble.
In the name of Jesus I pray
Tuesday 24th January
Thank You for Your blessings to us, for food, shelter, warmth and rest.
Lord today help us to see the needs of those around us, not just our families and friends but those who are in real need of our time and attention, our practical help or our giving.
Forgive our foolish ways, for the times we have spoken harshly or judged someone, for the times we have not put the needs of others first, for the times we’ve been angry and lashed out, for all the things we have done that we are ashamed of and the guilt we need to be set free from.
We thank You that You are gracious and ready to hear when we call to you, even if that’s not very often or only when we are in trouble. Thank You that we can find freedom from our past and hope for our future if we turn to you for help. Lord when doubts fill our minds, when our hearts are in turmoil, quiet us and give us renewed hope and cheer.
Most of all we thank You for encouragement, help us to be the encouragement others need, to be ready to to offer a kind word or a thank you, to raise others up with praise. To forgive others as You forgive us. Thank You for Your mercy which is new each day.

Friday 20th January 2012
Thank you for our friends, families, partners and all the relationships we have with those around us. Thank you for the love You have for each one of us, whether we know that or not.
Today I am praying for all those who are in relationship stress of any kind, where they may have broken down, where there is discord, hurt, distress and sadness over the loss of a relationship. I lift all those who are dealing with the breakdown of a marriage and the aftermath of that. I pray especially for the children who are confused and bewildered by what is happening to them and their parents.
In the heat of conflict things are said and done that wound us, that make it hard if not impossible for there to be reconciliation. But Lord I do pray that there would be healing of relationships, mending of hearts and minds, restoration of peace and hope for the future.
Lord you sent Your Son to restore our relationship with You, You understand what it feels like to be brokenhearted and let down by those You love. I pray that today all those who seek help find it, that today there could be at least one reconciliation, that today children would know that they are still loved and they are not to blame.
Make me a channel of your peace.
Where there is hatred let me bring your love.
Where there is injury, your pardon, Lord
And where there’s doubt, true faith in You
Oh, Master grant that I may never seek
So much to be consoled as to console
To be understood as to understand
To be loved as to love with all my soul.
Make me a channel of your peace
Where there’s despair in life, let me bringhope
Where there is darkness, only light
And where there’s sadness, ever joy.
Make me a channel of your peace
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned
In giving to all men that we receive
And in dying that we’re born to eternal life.

Thank You for the weekend and the chance to rest, work and play. Thank you for times with our families, time out in fresh air and sunshine, time for being instead of doing.
Today Lord I lift to You our schools and colleges and all those who work in them to educate our children and young people. Lord we thank you for the chance to learn, for the chance to teach our children as they grow. We think of all those who have chosen to teach, to give themselves to the training and nurture of children. Thank you for all those who encourage and develop the potential of young lives.
For all those who go beyond the call of their role to support those who need extra help we thank You, who have infinite time and patience for those children who are struggling emotionally or physically. Lord forgive those who may have not been so good to us when we were learning, who may have discouraged us or failed to recognise our worth.
We think of all those who work to provide support, teaching assistants and learning mentors, those who clean and maintain schools and those who provide meals and other services. Thank you for the sense of community that schools can give us.
Thank you too for those who chose to educate their children at home, bless them as they seek to provide for all their children’s needs, help them give the best they can.
Bless all our children and young people today as they go to their places of learning, bless those who teach and support them, give them all the inspiration and enthusiasm they need for the day ahead.

Sunday 15th January 2012
Thank You for the new day, the glory of the morning sky and the possibilities that lie before us today.
Thank You for all the prayers You have answered and the safety of those we lifted into Your care. I pray for all those who have lost loved ones in the ferry disaster, those still waiting anxiously for news, those already trying to come to terms with their loss, please be close to them and comfort them in this this tragic time.
I lift to You all those who work in emergency and rescue services, thank You for their dedication to saving lives and working in dangerous and difficult situations. Thank You for their willingness to risk their own lives for the sake of others, for the acts of courage and heroism we never hear about, for all the unsung heroes in our midst.
Lord we look to You in all out times of bewilderment and distress, give us that peace which passes all understanding to guard our hearts and minds, hear our prayer.
In the name of Jesus
Eternal Father, strong to save,
Whose arm hath bound the restless wave,
Who biddest the mighty ocean deep
Its own appointed limits keep;
Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee,
For those in peril on the sea!

Thursday 12th January
Today I want to pray for all those undergoing surgery and treatment for illnesses, especially cancer. Lord You know who those are that are especially close to me right now, You know all about their situations and how they and their relatives feel.
I pray for those undergoing surgery that You would guide the surgeons, give them wisdom as they use their skills to prolong lives, relieve pain and remove cancers. I pray You be close to anyone who has a loved one in hospital right now, help them face the future, give them hope in their waiting, peace for their anxieties.
For those going through chemotherapy and radiotherapy, alleviate the side effects, help them come through the battles with courage and determination. As they walk through the valleys light the way for them, help them see the mountain top and know they can reach it.
Merciful Father comfort all those in need with the comfort only You can give, pour out Your love on all those we know and love in these difficult times.
In the name of Jesus
1. The LORD is my shepherd;
I have all that I need. ….
4 ……Even when I walk
through the darkest valley,
I will not be afraid,
for you are close beside me.
Your rod and your staff
protect and comfort me.
Tuesday 10th January 2012
Thank you for another dawn and the daylight that chases the night and our fears away. Today I just want to pray for everyone, for those I know and love and those who might be reading this.
I lift to you those for whom this might be difficult day. My heart hurts for all those who are in trouble or distress, who are tired or depressed, for those who feel their problems are too big to handle, for those in impossible situations where there seems to be no hope. For everyone who is struggling with something today please be close to them. Help them know that they are not alone, that there is hope and help for You are near to them in the storms of life.
We thank You that we can have an anchor when the waves are riding high, we thank You that nothing can separate us from Your love, that there is nothing that can happen to us today that we can’t handle with You. We thank You that Your mercies are new each morning and great is Your faithfulness to us.
When you walk through a storm,
Hold your head up high,
And don’t be afraid of the dark,
At the end of the storm is a golden sky.
And the sweet silver song of a lark.
Walk on through the wind,
Walk on through the rain,
Tho’ your dreams be tossed and blown,
Walk on, walk on, with hope in your heart,
And you’ll never walk alone.
You’ll never walk alone (Rodgers and Hammerstein)
Sunday 8th January
Thank You for our children and young people, thank You that they are a gift from You and one that we should treasure and encourage.
I want to pray for all those who work with children and young people in all sorts of ways, from midwifery units to colleges, nursery schools and playgroups, schools, youth clubs, those in charities that work with disadvantaged children, careers advisers, youth workers in communities, all who seek to educate, support and guide our young ones.
Lord thank You that you entrusted these precious ones to our care and keeping, thank you that we have the chance to influence them and encourage them. We pray for all those who dedicate themselves to provide services and support to children. We ask that they would always have a heart for those who need most help, encouragement for the shy, quiet ones, praise for those who need to feel valued, and those who excel in education or hobbies.
We thank You for Your encouragement for us, for being there to help us up when we fall down, for providing guidance and wisdom when we need it, and when we aren’t too proud to take it. We pray for protection for our children and ask that You keep them safe. We lift to You all those for whom life is difficult, those who live in poverty or fear of harm, those who are bullied or vulnerable through no fault of their own.
We thank You for the example set by Jesus who asked that the little ones be brought to Him, who reminds us that we need to value our young.
I believe the children are our are future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the children’s laughter remind us how we used to be
In the name of Jesus I pray
With love for children everywhere
Saturday 7th January
Thank You for the week just ending, thank You for all the loving and living, sharing and giving, for the problems and the blessings.
Today I lift to you all those who are waiting for something, for those waiting hopefully, anxiously, fearfully, desperately, for those in need of answers, in need of solutions to problems, for life giving support.
I think of all those who are waiting for results of tests and treatments, for those who have ill health and face an anxious time. Be close to them in this time, calm their fears, relieve their worries, be with them in the outcomes.
I lift to You all those affected by natural and man made disasters, those without water, food or shelter, those affected by famine, drought and disease. We don’t have any answers, only questions, all we can ask is that You send help. Provide relief, aid and let it reach those who truly need it.
Grant us patience with others, with those who irritate us, with those who are young and have yet to learn, with those who are older and perhaps slower. Give us patience to wait for those things which take time to come to fruition so that they are they best they can be.

Thank you for another day, for the drawing out of the light and the promise of coming Spring, even in the depth of winter.
Lord today I want to pray for fathers, for dads everywhere, those with us, those whom we have loved and lost and those who are not living with their families. We thank you for the love of our fathers that has nourished us, protected us and guided us.
We know that for some that love hasn’t been all that it should and we ask You to forgive those who couldn’t give all that was needed. We thank you for special times we have had and memories we can treasure. Bless all fathers who seek to care for their families, for those who are struggling with broken relationships and can’t see their children every day.
We think of fathers who are working hard and ask for times of rest and refreshment for them. We know that work isn’t an option for some and ask that You help them as they seek to find work to do.
We thank You for the love that comes from Your great Father heart, a love that will never leave us or forsake us, a love that never gives up on us, a love that see the best in us even when we are at our worst. Thank You for fathers everywhere today, bless them with Your love and strength in all that they do.

Thank you for our children and our families. Today we think of mothers who right now are getting their children and families ready for school or work.
Lord we thank you for the love of a mother for her children, for her fierce protectiveness, her gentleness and her comfort when we hurt. Bless all those with children and give them patience in the midst of daily routines when its noisy and busy and there’s so much to do. Give those mothers wisdom to guide and advise their children, to help them grow up with a sense of worth and to know that they are loved.
We thank You that we have Your love to sustain us each and every day, that Your patience, wisdom and gentleness is always there for us, that Your love gave itself for us on a cross. Bless all mothers for the sacrifices they make for their children.
Mother is the name of God in the lips and hearts of children.

Thank you for this new day, this new year and all that may unfold as it passes by. Thank you for the world around us in all its beauty, help us appreciate Your gift of life to us.
My prayer today is the Serenity Prayer
“God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change
Courage to change the things I can
And the wisdom to know the difference”
I pray for all those who are lonely or afraid and pray you give them peace, that peace which passes all understanding, for those who have to make difficult decisions, give them the courage and wisdom they need, bless us and all who are near and dear to us.

Saturday 31st December 08.00
Today is a another day and for many it will be a very difficult one. In the midst of New Year celebrations my prayers today are for all those who have lost loved ones in the last year and all those families who are in real financial difficulty.
Please be close to those who mourn especially those so recently bereaved. It is so hard to say goodbye to those we love and it hurts our hearts. But we have our memories and those live on. Forgive those who tell us we’ll get over it or to snap out of it. You understand our heartaches, comfort all those today with heavy hearts and bring joy out of sadness, hope out of the darkness of grief.
Lord I lift to you all those families who are struggling to make ends meet, those close to my heart and close to my home, in my neighbourhood and beyond who don’t know where to turn for the help they need. I pray for those who have lost their jobs or their health and who don’t have all they need to pay the bills or feed their families. You promise to provide for all our needs, I pray you will open up the resources they need, move in the hearts of those who have enough and to spare, move them to give generously to those around them who need it most.
Bring them relief from the worries they have, help them to keep going and lift their spirits. When things seem impossible turn things around for nothing is impossible for You. I ask in Jesus name
24 The LORD bless you
and keep you;
25 the LORD make his face shine on you
and be gracious to you;
26 the LORD turn his face toward you
and give you peace.” Numbers 6
With love to those who are struggling today
Friday 30th December 2011
As we come to the end of the year I think back over all that has gone on. The good times, the bad times, the heartache and the laughter. I realise that this is life, that it must go on and I must go on with it.
Thank you Lord for all that you have blessed me with, for my family, my friends, for faith to keep me going through the tough times, for life, for love, for sticking with me, even when I didn’t stick with you.
Thank you Lord that each day is a new day with you, with new blessings and new challenges. Grant me enough faith for each day for I only have the day I’m in, yesterday has gone and tomorrow is not yet here. I pray for those I love and for those I don’t get on so well with. Help me be a light to them, to be as You and have compassion even on those who would be against me.
The gate of the year
As we stand at the end of the old and the start of the new, stand with us so that we may find our rest and peace in You. Forgive our sins and help us forgive those who’ve done us down, hurt us or tried to destroy us. Let us come to You now and look forward, be refilled with Your love, Your Peace and Your Power so that we can make a difference in the year ahead. In the Name of Jesus we pray.
The faithful love of the Lord never ends![b]
His mercies never cease.
23 Great is his faithfulness;
his mercies begin afresh each morning.
